Central Plains Cultural Experience Project: Meeting China in Henan and Perceiving the Central Plains

During President Xi Jinping’s visit to France, the major initiative of “10,000 in three years” and “doubling in three years” that he announced has provided direction for cultural exchange and cooperation between China and Europe. In actively responding to the national initiative and promoting mutual understanding among young people in China and Europe, Henan Finance University has meticulously planned a 10-day short-term Central Plains cultural experience project for the summer, inviting European undergraduate students to embark on a journey to experience the Central Plains culture.
Project Features:
On-campus Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience:
- Chinese Martial Arts Course: Learn Shaolin Kung Fu and Tai Chi, etc., to experience the charm and essence of traditional Chinese martial arts, and to cultivate both body and mind.
- Ru Porcelain Course and Crafting Experience: Travel to the hometown of Ru Porcelain, Ruzhou City, visit the training base of Yusing Ru Porcelain Co., Ltd. at our university. Explore the essence of ancient Chinese ceramic art, and personally experience the pottery making techniques such as throwing and carving.
Experience of Central Plains Culture Off-Campus:
- Visit to the Henan Provincial Museum: Step into the treasure trove of Chinese history, admire precious cultural relics, and understand the glorious history of the Central Plains region.
- Visit to the Shaolin Temple in Dengfeng: Explore the cradle of Chinese Chan Buddhism, watch Shaolin Kung Fu performances, and feel the profound origins of martial arts and Buddhism.
- Visit to the Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang: Explore a UNESCO World Heritage site, appreciate the magnificence and delicacy of ancient stone carving art.
- Visit to the Qingming Riverside Landscape Garden in Kaifeng: Travel back in time, immerse yourself in the 1:1 replica of the Northern Song Dynasty capital city of Bianliang, experiencing the vibrant prosperity of the Song Dynasty in an authentic and immersive way.
